If you have never owned a cat before, it might seem a little odd to compare cats to human children, but this video shares some reasons why cats are just like two-year-olds.

There is a reason we call cats our fur babies. And just like regular babies, they need a lot of attention. In this woman’s household, her cat was always at her heels, following after her and meowing for attention.

If you have ever tried to get through a hallway with a cat weaving in between your legs, you know what she was experiencing. Even for the most aloof cats, we are the center of their universe.

Of course, there is no time they want your attention more than when you are busy. If you have tried to read a book with a cat, you know that the second you get comfortable, the cat will climb into your lap.

One of the harder parts of being a parent, regardless of the species, is helping regulate sibling interactions. Just like toddlers, cats don’t always see eye-to-eye with their siblings. While a child might fight over a toy or their favorite treat, a cat might swat at their sibling for looking at them wrong as they walk by them.

And if the little ones are not fighting, they are doing their utmost to give their parents a heart attack. If you have had a cat before, you know how scary it can feel to watch them stride across precarious perches.

But at the end of the day, even after all the minor annoyances and almost-heart attacks, cats are our whole worlds, too. No matter how grumpy we get with them, they are still our babies after all.
