While negligent animal parenting is often depicted as animals that are just skin and bones, overfeeding can be just as harmful. That was the case for Wolfgang, a Beagle that weighed 90 pounds.

The average healthy weight for a Beagle is 20-24 pounds depending on the sex of the dog, meaning Wolfgang weighed three times more than a healthy dog of his breed.

Fortunately, Wolfgang’s new owner was committed to helping the Beagle attain a healthier diet and exercise pattern. After some visits to the veterinarian, Wolfgang went on his first walk.

The Beagle loved it. While it was difficult for him to carry all his weight on his short legs, Wolfgang enjoyed the adventures he had alongside his new owner. He would bark as soon as the leash came out.

This is why taking dogs on walks is so important for them. Not only does it improve a dog’s health, but it also enriches their life. Wolfgang’s tail wagged whenever he was out and about.

After a lot of work, Wolfgang shrunk down to a third of his size. Thanks to his love of walks and the dedication of his owner, Wolfgang was able to attain a healthier way of living.

He used to have trouble carrying his weight before, but now, he barks at his new dad to run with him on the leash. What an inspiring and adorable story. Well done, Wolfgang!
