The female elephants, also known as cows, stay together by the trees while the males swim in a nearby dam. Tokwe enjoys the last marula.

There are many notable elephants in the herd, and Setombe is the oldest and biggest female among all of them. While Khanyisa is roaming around, Allomother Kumbura doesn’t leave her side.

Khanyisa is hard to miss since she is an albino calf and the tiniest member of her herd. Her tusks are still developing, and she is still learning to master her trunk.

She finds a tree she can practice on and starts to eat whatever she can find on it. The other females don’t stray far, and they wait for her to finish.

All the older members of Khanyisa’s family serve as teachers for her. She learns from their example and watches them use their trunks. It won’t be long before she is as proficient as them.

It is a privilege for the caretakers to be able to watch Khanyisa develop alongside her wonderful herd. Her family loves her so much that they don’t mind waiting for her to finish her meal.
