Kristin and Jay first found out about the adorable puppies named Aspen and Oakley from their friend who ran a rescue in the Tennessee area. They immediately fell in love with the two pups and brought them to their unique home.

Kristin and Jay were ecstatic about adding Aspen and Oakley to their family. By the time they arrived, Kristin and Jay had already made plans for the pups’ futures. “We hope these puppies are gonna be protectors of our animals,” said Kristin.

Kristin and Jay owned and operated Ziggy’s Rescue and Farm Sanctuary, a sanctuary that was home to more than 70 animals. Kristin and Jay looked forward to Aspen and Oakley serving as guardian dogs to the animals.

“Farm sanctuaries utilize guardian dogs to protect the animals just because we love all the animals here on the farm, and we want to do everything we can to ensure they’re safe,” explained Jay.

The first animals Aspen and Oakley met were Willie the Pug and Ziggy the Pig, who Kristin and Jay think of as the “king of the farm.” Ziggy welcomed them easily, but it took a little longer for Willie to be convinced about the newest arrivals.

As Aspen and Oakley matured, Jay planned to integrate the puppies into his morning routines, but while they were puppies, he was happy to have them as company. “It’s like having a couple of toddlers running around,” said Jay.

While Aspen and Oakley had a long way to go before they were working dogs, Kristin and Jay could not have been happier with their lovable pups. “One day,” Kristin told the puppies, “you’re going to have to take care of all the babies, but don’t you worry. There’s always gonna be two people that are going to take care of you.”
