When Cassie the duck was first born, her adoptive human mom, Pamellia was nervous about how her little one would fare, since she was so exhausted. But after a few hours, she was on her feet and had no troubles after that.

With Cassie safely on her feet, it was time for her to meet her brother Carl. From the first night the two ducklings spent the night together, they were like “two peas in a pod.”
Every night, when it was time to go to sleep, they did so together. But like little children, they would fight against sleep as hard as they could. With their heads curled up together, they would start to nod off and then jerk awake again until they finally fell asleep.

When Cassie and Carl were old enough to come out of the nursery, they followed Pamellia everywhere she went. “They were constantly on my heels,” said Pamellia. “I mean it literally.”
Eventually, it was time to give the ducklings their first experience in water in the form of a bath. Cassie and Carl loved it from the first moment they set foot into the water.

Cassie and Carl grew quickly, and it was time to take the two birds outside for the first time. The two birds chattered as they moved around the yard. “They were just running back and forth,” said Pamellia.
Since Cassie and Carl were both flightless breeds of ducks, Cassie and Carl would have a happy home with Pamellia for the rest of their lives. “They are 100 percent meant to be kept safe, and that’s what I plan to do.”
