Baby tiger grows up into a happy independent tiger

When Tammy Thies of the Wildcat Sanctuary went to rehome four different tigers, she was not expecting to find one adorable baby tiger. She named the little tiger cub Dash.

Usually, when people think of tigers, we imagine them as fearsome, wild and powerful creatures that stalk through rainforest jungles. But even the biggest, scariest cats start out as adorable babies.

Dash could not have been more than three or four pounds when he first arrived at the Wildcat Sanctuary. In the first week, the tiger cub had not even opened his eyes.

Even though he was small, Dash still had a big personality and made sure to let Tammy know what he was feeling. “He did have tantrum noises,” said Tammy. “It sounded like a pterodactyl screaming.”

While Tammy would have preferred for Dash to live a life in the wild, she was glad that she had been able to rescue him from a small zoo or cub-petting operation. With her, at least, Dash could make his own choices.

But like every adorable animal, Dash could not stay a baby forever. At seven weeks, he moved into his “big boy room,” and at eleven weeks, Dash got to explore the outside world for the first time in his life.

He loved it outdoors, and he made a perfect adjustment to his new life. While Dash still had some growing up to do, he had come so far from the tiny cub that Tammy had rescued. “He’s a happy, independent tiger,” said Tammy.
