Gotcha, the Moluccan Cockatoo, went to Walmart with his owner. She stayed in the car with him while her husband and brother did their shopping. Gotcha had a lot to say about the people in the parking lot.

Gotcha watched the strangers walking with their purchases and putting away their carts. He yelled loudly at everyone, so loud that a young couple walked one aisle over to avoid his squawks.
During the car ride and parking lot stay, Gotcha is in a stylish harness and perches on his owner’s hand. His eyes remain fixed on the activity happening outside of the car, and he has something to say about all of it.

Though Gotcha’s calls are unintelligible, it’s fun to imagine his squawks as judgmental mutterings about those passing by. The cockatoo bobs his head back and forth as he criticizes the shoppers.
Gotcha’s owner is very committed to both of her parrots and believes that many people impulse buy these birds after watching something. However, she writes that over 85% of parrots are given away or abandoned within two years of being purchased.

The bird lover remarks that she has given up a lot to give her parrots a good life. She often takes them for walks to help the birds socialize and have fun experiences.
She encourages would-be parrot owners to recognize the life commitment since these birds can live over 80 years! Like most pet lovers, she knows that humans have a lot to fill their lives: family, hobbies, travel, but our pets only have us.
