At the Better Piggies Rescue, Danielle took care of over 140 pigs at the sanctuary. But she had never seen as strong of a connection as the one between one Chihuahua and pig.
The two animals were appropriately named Timon and Pumba for reasons beyond their compatibility. Like the animated duo from the Lion King, Timon, the Chihuahua loved to ride Pumba.
Danielle first found out about the two animals when she received a call from the Humane Society. They told her that Timon and Pumba had a strong bond. The Humane Society hoped Better Piggies Rescue could be a new home for the animals.
This was the first time Danielle had seen a dog and pig that were so close. “Pigs and dogs usually don’t get along very well together, but these two were kind of like this odd couple,” said Danielle.
When Timon and Pumba arrived, the tiny Chihuahua attempted to ride the other pigs, but they were not as receptive as Pumba. “So, he just sticks with Pumba right now,” said Danielle.
Their new home turned out to be perfect for Timon and Pumba. As social, outgoing animals, they both loved the chance to get pets from their favorite humans. Even with all the choices, they still spent a lot of time together.
Danielle was confident Timone and Pumba had bright futures ahead of them at Beter Piggies Rescue. “Pumba and his best friend will spend the rest of their lives at Better Piggies Rescue,” said Danielle.
