Compassionate man rehabilitates baby deer that was stranded by her mother

One morning, while looking out of his home near the Yellowstone National Park, Darius Sanuskas witnessed a mama deer give birth to two adorable little fawns. Unfortunately, one of the babies was not strong enough to keep up with her mom and sibling.

The fawn tried to keep up with her mother, but she had an injured leg and could not catch up. The poor mother had to make the painful choice of putting both her babies at risk or ensuring that her other baby survived, and she chose to leave her weaker fawn behind.

Fortunately, Darius was there to help. When the fawn could not follow its mother, he decided to raise the baby deer himself, feeding it and giving it a warm, safe place to rest while it gained strength.

While the rest of Darius’s family was uncertain how they felt about their newest sibling, with time, Darius’s dogs and cat grew to accept the baby deer as one of their own. One of Darius’s dogs even stood guard while the deer was in their yard.

When the deer was fully recovered, Darius decided to release the little one back into the wild, but to his surprise, the fawn refused to leave her foster parent’s side.

Darius realized that the fawn’s best chance of rehabilitation and release would be finding her mother. For many days, he went searching for the mother until one day she showed up at her doorstep, and Darius returned the fawn to her mother.

Even though she was back in the wild, the baby deer did not seem to forget the kindness Darius showed her, and as she grew, she continued to return to see her foster parent.
