Emma’s boyfriend, Max, was obsessed with adding a puppy to their family. So, one day, Emma decided to surprise her boyfriend with a puppy unlike any he had seen before.

As Max approached the car, his eyes lit up with joy. “Is this a puppy?” he asked. Holding back laughter, Emma told him to open up the crate, and when he did, out came piglet!

It might not have been the puppy Max had been expecting, but he ended up loving little Patrick all the same. “I’ve never really met a dog who was into mud,” he said. “Or one who’s this hungry.”

When their “pink puppy” was not on a walk with his dad, he would nuzzle up to his mom and steal attention wherever he could find it. “Everyone was obsessed with him,” said Emma. “Definitely an attention hog.”

At first, Emma and Max’s dog, Brian, was not impressed by his new sibling. He had to share his food and his personal space with Patrick. “For months, he’d look at us like something was just not right,” said Emma. Eventually, Brian accepted his little sibling into the pack.

One day, while on a walk with Patrick and Brian, Max had someone stop their car and ask, “Is that a pig?” As silly as this might seem to mistake a pink puppy for a pig, Max was understanding of the confusion. Pigs are also intelligent, loving and caring animals, so it would be natural to be confused.

Regardless of whether Patrick is a pig or not, he will always have a place in his loving and accepting family. “He’ll always be one of the dogs,” said Emma.
