Dora deserves all the awards that exist for bravery and motherhood. Soon after giving birth to multiple puppies, this sweet dog was hit by a motorcycle.
She couldn’t walk, and there was damage to her spine. The vet who examined the poor dog realized Dora would need two spinal surgeries.
Even without the use of her back legs, Dora wanted to feed her babies. She would sit herself up and allow her puppies to feed. Dora’s helpers would lie her on her side so that she could feed more of the puppies since it was difficult for her to move on her own.
Eventually, the puppies were sent to be fostered since Dora needed to prioritize her own recovery and health. After the second surgery, Dora began walking on only her front two legs.
Developing gymnast-like strength, Dora would drag her back half around the house. The volunteers helped her by holding her rear legs and following where Dora wanted to go.
Dora then received a wheelchair, which gently holds her back legs and has wheels on the side. The dog can decide where she wants to go and get there a bit easier.
Dora will soon live at an animal sanctuary called Angels with Misplaced Wings. This organization specializes in helping animals with disabilities to live rich, happy lives. If any animal deserves that, it’s Dora.
