When a family rescued a baby dove, they never expected her to continue to stay with them. They named the dove Trigger, and they first found her outside on the ground.
There was no way to get her back on the tree, so the kids tried to feed her. Their mom told them that once Trigger could fly, they needed to release her.
Everyone was surprised by how quickly Trigger grew. One of the kids taught Trigger how to fly, which meant she was almost ready to be released.
It was an emotional day when they had to let Trigger go. At least it was at first. Two hours after flying away, Trigger came back to their home. The mom didn’t think she would ever have a relationship with a dove.
Trigger always comes by to visit, and she loves to stand on their heads. She flies over their food, and the mom doesn’t like that. Trigger also loves to play with their dog.
The dog and Trigger have a love-hate relationship. Apparently, the mom didn’t think Trigger would survive. A year and a half later, Trigger has become an integral part of their lives.
Trigger flies in and out of their house whenever she pleases. Doves can live up to 25 years, and the family had no idea they lived that long. They are delighted with the unexpected new member of their family.
