Freddo the rescue Rottweiler becomes one of the pack

When Freddo the Rottweiler first arrived at Doggy Daycare Farm Trips, he was antisocial and afraid of water. For two-and-a-half months the team worked to find the six-year-old a forever home.

During that time, they continued to train Freddo and take him to play in the pool. At first, he desperately paddled for the shore the second he was in the water, and he struggled to connect with those around him.

With still no applications for adoption, the team decided to adopt him themselves and introduce him to the day pack. That was when things began to change for the sweet Rottweiler.

Once he was with the pack, he opened up to the other pups and started showing interest in playing in the water, though he was still a little nervous about swimming.

Fast forward to two-and-a-half months later, and the team can hardly get Freddy to come out of the water. Swimming used to be something that scared him, but it became his favorite activity to do with his buddies.

Whenever they threw a ball or toy into the water, Freddo was the first dog to leap off the docks, and the team could not be more proud of him. “We’re really happy for Freddo to have found such a love in life,” they said on their YouTube page.

Freddo’s story is an inspiring one. It goes to show you that even for a dog that would be turning seven, it is never too late to try something new and step outside of your comfort zone.
