Atlas is a one hundred and twenty-pound Pitbull. Though he is a large dog, Atlas has always been a gentle and kind soul. So gentle, that little creatures don’t feel scared of him.
When the family brought home a little puppy who was barely sixteen ounces, Atlas didn’t scare her off. Instead, Atlas just let the puppy bite his face, tear at his fur, and mess with his tail. The puppy used Atlas as a chew toy.
Then the family found a baby bird and introduced it to Atlas. The giant Pitbull was affectionate even to a chirping creature with a beak. He thought of the chick as his baby.
Atlas’ family decided the Pitbull would make a wonderful foster dad, so they brought home a litter of kittens. Atlas was so kind to them that the kittens even tried to nurse on him.
The Pitbull let the kittens snuggle with him and bit on him, much like the puppy had in the beginning. It helped the kittens acclimate to the environment to feel like they had a dad.
Atlas gives the kittens the feeling of safety and protection. He’s so large compared to their small frames, but they’re never afraid of this gentle giant.
At the end of a long day of fostering, Atlas climbs into the hammock and takes a break. No one taught Atlas how to get into the hammock, but the Pitbull knew–this is a place to relax. After all that parenting, Atlas has definitely earned a peaceful swing in the hammock.
