German Shepherd listens closely to what his dad is saying

While many of us have deep and emotional connections with our pets, there is still a communication barrier between humans and their animal companions. That was not the case for Buddy the German Shepherd and his human, Mike.

Whether it was a question about taking a trip to Dairy Queen or a request that he get a ball, Buddy seemed to immediately understand what his dad was saying to him.

But his intelligence extended beyond communication. He also had a deep understanding of rules, a thing his dad showed by throwing a ball across the street. Without a command, Buddy stopped chasing the ball.

Mike stated a feeling that many of us share for our fur babies. “I love this dog like he is one of my sons,” Mike said. That connection was proven all the more true when Mike brought Buddy to see his mom.

As they drove, Mike told Buddy about how the dog’s grandma fell and how Mike wanted to go and see that she is doing alright. Watching Buddy tilt his head, it’s hard not to think that he understood.

And when Buddy did come to see his grandma, he stood by her side, offering the gentle support that she needed. He even made sure to tell his grandma he loved her with a quiet bark.

Buddy’s story is yet another example of our pets’ connection with us. They may not understand our words, but they understand our emotions through the tone in our voice, and that’s beautiful.
