For some anxious animals, it can be hard to be at home without their parents. Whether it’s for a trip to the grocery store or a day at the office, our animal companions are left to worry about when we get back.

The unfortunate result of this anxiety can turn into problematic behavior. They burrow under our blankets and into our sheets, scratch carpets or tear up one of our beloved stuffed animals.
But that wasn’t what one family saw when they put up a camera to see what their animals would do when they were gone. Instead, they caught footage of a heartwarming moment between their cat and puppy.

While their anxious pup curled up on the couch and looked out at the empty living room with her sad eyes, her feline sibling decided to join her on the sofa.
You can see in the dog’s expression the moment when she gets a little nervous about the cat joining her, but her kitty sibling is insistent. The cat is not going to let the puppy weather these emotions alone.

And in a gesture that would make any animal-loving heart melt, the cat snuggled into the puppy as if to say, “Everything is going to be all right.”
Cartoons and media would have us believe that cats and dogs are enemies. Still, videos like this show us just how loving and empathetic our animal companions can be.
