While many animals arrive in families that give them the loving attention they need and deserve, many must wait a little while first. This short film follows the story of one such pet turtle on his journey to happiness.
Ten years before this video, Larry Wolf bought Snowy the Turtle for his two sons. But as his kids grew older, they had less and less interest in the reptile, and he went to live in the basement.
Larry is the only one taking care of the lonely creature at the beginning of the film. In addition to spending time with the terrapin, Larry would dig up earthworms as tasty treats for Snowy.
One day, Snowy rejected his snack, and Larry became concerned about the tiny turtle’s health. Not knowing what to do, he reached out to the University of Lincoln’s Anna Wilkinson, an expert in animal cognition.
Wilkinson advised Larry to bring Snowy into a more expansive enclosure with more natural light. The compassionate, animal-loving man did just that, bringing Snowy outdoors to a more accessible, well-lit location.
But Larry and Snowy’s journey was not finished there. Larry’s pursuit of happiness for his pet turtle would go on to take him to a veterinarian and even an animal psychic.
The resulting film is a narrative about Snowy’s journey into a more positive life and a meditation on happiness. If you are looking for a heartwarming and thought-provoking short film, this is it.
