If you watched cartoons like Tom and Jerry as a kid, you might feel nervous hearing about a kitten’s first introduction to baby chicks, but the way this kitten reacted might surprise you.
Kittens are often known for their curiosity and playfulness. When this kitten first met the baby birds, she was more intrigued than playful, seeming curious about what these yellow fluff balls walking around her might be.
While the kitten was cautiously interested, the chicks threw caution to the wind. They seemed apathetic about being so close to a creature that would normally have been their natural predator.
As soon as the tiny birds saw their new feline friend, they walked right up to her and snuggled up to her for warmth. One brave chick even climbed onto the kitten’s back.
The baby chicks snuggled up to their furry friend and were so comfortable that they started to doze off. And eventually, the kitten became more comfortable, too, leaning onto her side.
For a while, the kitten lay there, letting her new feathered friends nap against her side. As they started to wake up, the kitten’s playful side came out, but she was still just as gentle as before, giving one of her new friends a gentle bonk.
Cats may have a reputation for being vicious, domesticated hunters, but this video shows that even kittens are capable of deep compassion for other baby creatures. All we have to do is give them a chance.
