It’s inevitable that at one point or another, life will throw you a curveball and you’ll have to figure out how to navigate going forward. For people and animals that are born with disabilities, this is something they can deal with every day.
Pia is a beautiful mare that was born without ears but continues to live a happy and healthy life at a rescue center. She had a stump on the left side of her head and had a completely missing lobe on her right side.
There have been a few studies done that show that horses communicate with their ears. Thankfully, the other horses at the rescue are fully supportive of their deaf friend. They’ve always helped Pia anytime she’s been in need.
We know that these horses are lovable and intelligent creatures, but we humans could learn a thing or two from them. It’s a rare sight to see a collective group be so selfless and helpful towards another individual.
