If you or someone you know lives with asthma, you know how scary an attack can be. That fear was what John felt when he noticed that his cat, Liam, was having trouble breathing.

After taking his cat in for a few tests, the veterinarian confirmed that Liam had asthma. “At first it was really scary,” said John. “But in the back of my head, all that mattered was making sure that Liam has a good quality of life.”
The veterinarian informed John that he would need to help his cat use the inhaler two times a day. Without his medication, Liam would have complications and might not survive.

Fortunately, Liam’s dad cared deeply about his fur baby and did everything he could to make sure Liam stayed healthy. This was made even more difficult because of one of the side effects of the inhaler, which made Liam eat more and become more lethargic.
About a year after beginning Liam’s treatments, John noticed that his cat was gaining a lot of weight, weight that would ultimately put more pressure on his little one’s already labored lungs. John knew that something needed to change.

So, he set up a walking wheel for Liam. Liam was not at all enthusiastic about his workout routine, but by day five, he was doing laps on the wheel. John also set up pillows over between the doors of rooms to encourage Liam to jump over obstacles.
While it was a rough process at first, Liam lost a significant amount of weight thanks to his loving dad. “I love Liam,” said John. “And I would do anything for him.”
