Leopards are powerful, majestic creatures, but they, too, can be impacted by human encroachment on their habitats. That was the case when one leopard snagged a patch of barbed wire.
Fortunately, the Eco-Echo Foundation rushed to respond and help release the leopard. There was only one big problem: the leopard was afraid of the humans that were trying to rescue her.
One of the major obstacles in any rescue is that wild animals are scared of humans. That fear can lead to the animals injuring themselves or their rescuers to get away from them.
As soon as the leopard saw her rescuers, she got into a frenzy, lashing out and tangling herself up in the barbed wire even further. If she continued, she would only make things worse.
Thinking quickly, the rescuers tranquilized the big cat. A few minutes later, once she was sedated, the rescuers worked to untangle the leopard from the vicious coils of barbed wire.
The barbed wire proved to be stubborn, but together, the team freed the leopard from the trap and loaded her onto a truck. And the rescue was not a moment too soon. Just as they loaded her into the back, she shook herself awake.
Thanks to the brave efforts of the Eco-Echo Foundation, this powerful leopard traveled back to a shelter where she could recover until she was well enough to be released back into the wild.
