In Long Island Sound, New York, Frankie of Strong Island Animal Rescue League got a call about a deer in trouble. When Frankie arrived, he saw a deer in the water.

The deer could swim fine, but there was a bucket over her head, and it appeared to be stuck. Frankie removed his boots and vest and walked into the water.
It was freezing cold, and the deer swam further out. Frankie wasn’t confident that he would be able to reach her. Then Frankie saw a boat at the end of the bay.

He called for help, and the kind stranger responded immediately. Frankie saw the boat drive over to him, and the man helped him up into the vessel.
While they were on the boat, Frankie told the man to get as close as he could to the deer. The boat driver made sure to slow down when they were near the scared animal.

Frankie was at the front of the boat and quickly removed the bucket from the deer’s head. The deer descended and thankfully appeared unharmed on the other side of the boat.
She was still swimming in circles. Frankie grabbed her, and with the help of the boat driver, led her to the safety of the shore. When they were in shallow water, Frankie let go of the deer, and she ran away.
