In Mladenovac, Serbia, a man received a call asking him to help a small momma dog and her puppies. He found the momma dog lying on her side in a bed of tall grass.
Unlike many wild dogs, the momma dog was friendly and affectionate the second she saw her rescuer, seeming to understand that he was there to help her and her babies.
As he bent down to feed the sweet mother dog, he thought there was one puppy. But when the man looked closer, he found another one. Placing gentle kisses on the little ones’ heads, he loaded the mom and her two pups into the car.
The man was almost ready to go back, but he knew that a litter of two was on the smaller end for litter size, with smaller dogs sometimes having litters as large as four pups. So, the man went back to check for another puppy.
And thank goodness he did. He found one hiding amongst the tall grass. Just to be certain, he enlisted the help of a few more people to search the grass, but it looked like the whole family was all together now.
The man set out for the family of four’s temporary home. There, the puppies continued to grow and get stronger, with their lovable mother with them. And after three months, they were ready for adoption.
Thanks to the help of this caring man, all three of the puppies found loving forever homes. And as gentle and lovable as their mom was, she was sure to find a home soon, too.
