Recently, Navy SEAL, Mike Ritland, honored the life and service of the military dog, Carlos. He is among the few lucky military dogs who successfully transitioned to civilian life.

The last image of this loving dog showed Mike lying beside his comrade in arms. The American flag draped across Carlos painted a melancholy, patriotic scene of the service Carlos provided to his company and the lives he touched along the way.
Thanks to Mike Ritland and his company, Warrior Dog Foundation, Carlos lived a happy, fulfilling life after retiring from military service, a kindness that many military dogs do not get to experience.

Tragically, many military dogs are traumatized after their experiences out in the field, and a lot of the dogs regress to aggression. Because of that, military dogs are often euthanized.
The Warrior Dog Foundation pushed back against that harsh reality, making it possible for dogs like Carlos to find the happiness that they deserve for their years of loyalty and service.

In his final moments, Carlos spent time with all of the people he loved and ate some of his favorite treats. Just before he crossed over to the other side, he enjoyed a delicious steak.
Carlos will be missed dearly by the members of his team, Mike and the many lives he touched along the way. “Fair winds and following seas C-man,” said Mike, “we have the watch from here buddy.”
