Ili Pika is a wild seal rescued from an Aquaculture farm in Ireland. She was first found on top of an oyster trestle bed with heavy machinery all around her.
Her mother was most likely scared away. She was taken under the care of Seal Rescue Ireland. Ili Pika was seen licking the window of her enclosure as if she was trying to drink milk.
It was a sign she missed her mother, so she was given a wetsuit mom. The wetsuit mom was made out of recycled wetsuit packed together. It resembles a mother seal.
Ili Pika felt more comfortable and cuddled up against the wetsuit. The goal was to get her healthy and up to a weight of 30 kilos so she could be released back into the wild where she belongs.
At first, Ili Pika was quiet, but she started to show her feisty personality when she gained more confidence. She loved her bathtub, and whenever anyone came to clean it, she would try to keep them away.

Ili Pika would try to slap away any brushes and bark at whoever came to clean the tub. It was a great sign because that meant she was a confident wild seal.
Eventually, Ili Pika was taken to the pools where the other seals were, and she became the ruler of the roost. She will be released back into the wild, as they have done for many other seals when she is truly ready.
