If you are a fan of 70’s music, rock and roll, or Led Zeppelin, chances are you have listened to “Stairway to Heaven” before, but we can guarantee you have not heard a cover quite like this.

This cover performance came from Tico and The Man. While The Man’s guitar playing skills are exemplary, the undisputed star of the show was the adorable, musically talented parrot, Tico.
In the video, The Man started strumming an abridged version of “Stairway to Heaven” in a seat beside his bird’s cage. At first, it seemed like The Man might be serenading his bird, but then, Tico started to sing.

While it would be a stretch to call the singing lyrics, it was not a stretch to call them musical. All of Tico’s whistles, croons and cries followed the melody of The Man’s guitar.
Rather than singing the lyrics of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven,” Tico riffed on the melody, adding his own styling and musicality. The result was part cover and part jam session.

But for Tico and The Man, “Stairway to Heaven” would only be the beginning. This archived video was a historical moment for the pair. It single-handedly launched Tico’s musical career and started his rise to internet fame.
Since this song, Tico and The Man performed classic songs like “Should I Stay or Should I Go,” “Honky Tonk Woman” and “Pinball Wizard.” But for Tico and The Man, fame was never the goal. The goal was to have fun together, and they continue to do so with each new song they create.
