Photographer Captures Stunning Video of Thousands of Ray Fish Flying

There’s no denying that photographers see the world from a different point of view than most people do. When professional ocean photographer Nadia Aly was in Baja California, Mexico, she was able to get the shot of a lifetime.

Nadia spent several hours swimming above the massive shoal where shy Mobula rays were floating around. She knew that it took time, patience, and determination to get the perfect photograph. Her hard work paid off as the rays became more and more active.

She said, “It is very rare to get an encounter like this, with this many rays, in near-perfect visibility.” Nadia estimates that over 10,000 rays were swimming around in the area. She even mentioned that they weren’t nearly as skittish as they usually are.

With nicknames like “devil rays,” “flying rays,” and even “flying tortillas,” there’s no wonder why the video footage she captured went viral. These majestic creatures swimming along in their natural habit, almost look otherworldly. Excellent work, Nadia.
