For little Archie, life did not start easy. An orphan lamb, Archie craved connection, but to make matters worse, his body could not process milk. More than anything, he needed extra love and care. Fortunately, Dave and Jen were up for the job.

When Archie arrived at Dave and Jen’s home, he was tiny and weak. That first night was the hardest for the baby sheep. “It was a really fine balance of keeping him comfortable and finding a milk mixture that would work for him,” Jen said.
Archie was uncomfortable that first night and needed extra love. “He wanted human contact. He craved connection!” said Jen. “So we spent hours initially cuddling, cuddling, cuddling.”

To help the little lamb relax, Dave would play his guitar for the baby sheep, and Archie was immediately enthralled. “He often nibbles on the guitar strings,” said Jen. “He likes the vibration of them.”
After weeks of trial and error, Dave and Jen finally found a milk mixture that worked for the poor orphaned lamb. Once he was able to eat on his own, Archie’s behavior changed completely, according to Jen.

Archie was filled with new energy, playing with his parents and running around the house. “He was just overflowing with joy,” said Jen. “It was like he couldn’t contain himself.” Dave and Jen knew, then, that Archie was ready to transition outside.
To make the transition outdoors easier for the lamb, Dave and Jen brought their rituals outdoors, even playing guitar again for the little one. With their help, Archie transitioned successfully outdoors, and he even gained some new friends. “I’m really, really excited to see Archie continue to grow and continue to make friends.”
