In the winter, it is challenging for stray dogs to find shelter. Kind-hearted people noticed a group of dogs hanging out in a parking lot over several days.

These friends decided to help these pups get to a warm home. They set up large “traps.” These were cages full of dog food and a blanket.
Some of the dogs, like Pitbull Boomer, were very afraid of the cages. He would not walk into one on the first day, so the rescuers sadly had to leave him in the parking lot that night.

The next day, Boomer did walk into a cage, and the family was able to bring him home. However, Boomer would not willingly walk into the house. He’d clearly been trained never to enter a home.
Though the family spoke sweetly to the Pitbull and told him he was a “house dog” now, he was terrified to come in. The rescuers laid a blanket on him, and eventually, he came in.

After a couple of months of fostering Boomer, a family adopted him and renamed him Porter. It’s marvelous how much Boomer has changed since first being rescued.
The once scared Pitbull is now affectionate and gentle with his human parents. The couple purchased an adoption anniversary present, a package full of dog toys and treats to celebrate Porter’s forever family. It’s so heartwarming to see this Pitbull happy and loved.
