Mr. Peaches, a rescue squirrel, loves to climb up Linda’s jeans whenever he comes to see her. Linda found Peaches around a year and a half ago on the deck of their home.
It was Jake, their family dog, that let them know he had spotted something. Jake was apprehensive, and Linda’s daughter found the baby squirrel Jake was looking at.
Peaches was taken in by the family, and they raised him. He used to curl up into a tiny ball and used his tail as a blanket. His teeth couldn’t eat nuts, so they got him soft almonds.
Linda put him in a drawer, but once Peaches got older, the drawer wasn’t enough for him. He liked to be elevated, so Linda figured she could use a small pagoda her father made for her.
The pagoda was hung outside the house in the sunroom, and Peaches made a home in it. He loved it a lot. Linda says he has a lot of character, and he is a trickster.
Jake understands that Peaches is part of the family, but they don’t play with each other. Peaches has gotten near Jake, but Jake never reacts to Peaches.
When Linda went out one day to feed Peaches, she couldn’t find him until he came back a day later. Peaches has a home he can always come back to while still enjoying the freedom of going into the wild.
