When most people see chipmunks, it is from far away. If they are lucky, they might see one of the adorable creatures eating from a bird or squirrel feeder. This woman was even more fortunate. She became friends with a group of chipmunks.

Over the years, this compassionate woman left food out for the chipmunks that lived nearby. With time and patience, she fostered strong, trusting connections with the animals that lasted years.
One of her oldest rodent friends was a chipmunk named Jenny. Jenny was 5-6 years old, and the woman worried that the little one might be too timid or weak to assert herself at feeding time.

Jenny did not visit the woman as often, so when she did, the caretaker left fruit and seeds for the older chipmunk. While a chipmunk named Terry stuffed seeds into his pouch, another chipmunk named Wally pushed Jenny away from her meal.
But before you worry, that was not the last time we saw the older chipmunk. Jenny was patient, and she bided her time. Once the younger chipmunks left, she returned to the woman for a fresh bowl of mealworms and fruit.

Jenny was not done eating yet. After a few moments of eating from her fruit bowl, she noticed her favorite treat resting on the table: a strawberry. “Despite her age, Jenny is energetic with the strawberry,” the woman wrote in the video.
It turned out that the woman had nothing to worry about when it came to the senior chipmunk. “I worried that as Jenny aged, she would become timid,” she wrote. “But she’s still powerful and energetic.”
