Pet ownership has many rewards, what with all the love and companionship you and your animal friends provide each other. But there are a few downsides. One issue that dog owners frequently face is messes in the car. Drinks get knocked over, slobber happens, things get scratched, and there’s always the dreaded bladder mishap. Some of these car messes aren’t too hard to prevent or at least aren’t all that much trouble to clean up.
But what’s truly insidious is dog hair. It doesn’t take a lot of car rides before Fido has left the car’s interior coated with it. Where does it all come from? How? It gets all over the rugs, seats, and upholstery and just doesn’t want to come out. Well, except when you sit on it, then it get transferred to your clothing. Maybe you’ve tried heavy-duty “Shop Vac” type vacuum cleaners but found that they suck up everything but the dog hair. Lint rollers don’t seem to do the job, either. It might seem that if you have a dog, you’re just going to have to accept a car interior that reminds you of your pet.
Fortunately, there is a trick! What’s more, it’s remarkably simple, easy, and cheap: rubber gloves. What you want to get are the type that are worn for washing dishes; these have ribbing or other texture for gripping plates. That rubber texture turns out to be perfect for teasing dog hair out of a car’s upholstery. Basically, you just rub the dog hair into little piles which can then be easily vacuumed up.
