When Howl of a Dog found a little homeless dog in a small town in Romania, she was wandering behind people on the street and trying to get their attention.
Like many abandoned or stray animals, she had found a way to survive in the concrete jungle, begging passersby for food. But as a stray dog, she still faced many dangers, ranging from people who were not animal friendly to the cars driving past on the busy street.
Howl of a Dog was determined to make sure this small dog did not end up another statistic, so they approached her slowly, offering her small treats to lure her away from the cars.
To ensure she did not run into traffic, they had to help her become comfortable with their presence. The process took patience, but she came closer and closer to her rescuer until Howl of a Dog looped a leash over her head.
Gently, they brought the little one into their car and drove straight to the veterinary clinic. And on the way, the dog, who they named Lily, fell asleep on the passenger’s lap.
At the veterinarian, they found out that Lily was two years old. While her fur was home to several tics and fleas, her bloodwork showed promising results. With some medicine for her “friends” and some vitamins, she would be all right.
Lily experienced an amazing recovery at Howl of a Dog, but the team was the most excited when she found her forever home thanks to a lovely family who was ready to give her the home she deserved.
