Stray Dog Runs 155-Mile Marathon and Ends Up Adopted by Loving Runner

People train for several months to prepare themselves for the agility it takes to run a marathon. Dion Leonard was taking part in a 155-mile marathon through a desert when a stray dog joined him for the entire run.

Leonard is from Scotland and loves running extreme distances and loves winning any marathon he runs. He was part of the Gobi March race that took place in one China’s largest desert. Little did he know, he’d get a new lifelong companion by the finish line.

After the first day and 22 miles in, Dion found that a canine competitor had joined the race for a short amount of time. When Leonard was resting to prepare for the second day of the marathon, he noticed the four-legged runner had come back once again.

He didn’t pay too much attention until she joined him for the entire 23-mile run the next day. The adorable pup never left the runner’s side. When the six-day marathon was complete, he adopted the precious dog and named her Gobi after the race.
