Amy is a loving cat mom who provides her ginger tabby, Calvin, with everything he could want or need, including a lovely cat tree complete with hiding places.
Amy moved recently and brought her cat and dog along with her. In one of her moving boxes, Amy had her Christmas decorations packed. She noticed Calvin was very interested in the box.
When Amy brought the box down, Calving began tearing the items out of it to make more room for himself. Once the box was empty, Calvin sniffed it for a long time.
Calvin then began to scratch at the box, tearing it into shreds. At first, Amy thought it was funny and wondered what Calvin was doing. Then Calvin ripped up most of the sides, and Amy found scraps of cardboard all over her house.
Then Calvin started literally living in the box. He’d stay in the shredded thing all day. Amy would try to tempt him with new boxes, but the ginger cat only wanted his clawed-up box.
Amy shows viewers all of the lovely places that Calvin could choose to sleep instead of his box. There’s a lovely cat tree, his dog brother’s kennel, or his human parents’ bed, but, again, Calvin only wants the box.
Amy decided to let Calvin have what makes him happy. She’s accepted that the tattered old thing is just part of her decor now. She wonders if Calvin can spell their old home in the cardboard, and maybe that’s why he loves it so much. Whatever the reason, Amy loves him enough to let him keep it.
