Team rescues poodles living under I-5 freeway

Thank goodness someone reported these two sweet babies.

Stray Poodle

When Hope for Paws found out about a pair of dogs living under the busy I-5 freeway, they rushed to the scene. But first, they had to find the elusive dogs.

Beneath the cement, they found the two pups, but catching them would not be easy. They blocked one exit and drove to the other side of the freeway and crawled into the tunnel.

The two dogs had struggled to survive beneath the freeway for several weeks, and when they met their rescuers the two siblings were leery. The brother even stepped between the rescuers and his sister to protect her.

Once the rescuers had leashed the two dogs, they had to win their trust to bring them back to the shelter. The brother warmed up quickly, but the sister needed a little more encouragement before she finally relaxed.

Getting into the tunnel had been hard enough, but now Hope for Paws had to guide the dogs out of the tunnel back. They decided to wait in the tunnel to help the dogs know that everyone would be alright.

With the siblings fully trusting their rescuers, Hope for Paws could now lead them out of the tunnel. It was a long journey through the dark, cramped tunnel, but eventually, they found their way to the light.

Finally, the Hope for Paws team brought the dogs back to the shelter, where they received the care they needed. And with that care came their names: Pepsi and Cola.
