What does winter mean to you? Depending on where you live this season can offer many things to do. In the colder areas there is always skiing and sledding. The fun of getting all rugged up and heading to the great outdoors to enjoy the winter gifts that Mather Nature has to offer. For those who live in wet climates it may mean snuggling up with a good book or movie while lazing around the fireplace. Then those who live in the tropics……..well……there isn’t a winter really.
The pleasures that the snow brings for many, way out number the disadvantages that the winter can bring. Building a snowman or snow angel, snow ball fights with your friends, Ice staking on a frozen lake or just enjoying the beauty that a snowfall can bring. The surprise when you wake up in the morning and the first snow for the season is there to great you. The excitement of what lies ahead for the next few months. And if you are especially lucky, you may even get a white Christmas.
Now I live in a reasonably warm climate, and to be totally honest with you, I have never seen snow. This may sound a little surprising, but there are many people in the same position as me. I keep promising myself that one day I will take the plunge a visit one of the countries favorite snow fields and enjoy the atmosphere that it creates. My son lives on the East coast and is always trying to get us there in the winter. “Come on dad” hey says, “It’s not that cold, besides, you dress for it and soon you get used to it”. I know I should take him up on his invitation, one day.
We are of course not the only animals that enjoy the snow. There are many creatures who are built especially for the chilly conditions that winter can hand out. Miniature horses are such an outdoor loving animals and make the most of the cold when it arrives. These fun loving little equines just love to run around in the snow and play with each other, but when there is something different in the fields with them, their curiosity just gets the better of them.
In the clip bellow, a young boy is having fun sledding down the slopes on his grandmother’s farm. He was having so much fun that Granma decided to capture it all on her phone camera. But what happened next just had this young lad and his gran in fits of laughter. The miniature horses that gran has on her farm were so excited about their new-found-friend that they just couldn’t leave him alone.
