When the shelter worker first came across a tiny, shaky creature on the road, she didn’t know what animal it was. All she saw were big ears.

It was a tiny Chihuahua, barely three pounds. He was a nervous, skittish dog who was very unsure of people. His new owner knew she needed to keep him close to make him feel warm and secure.
She put on a hooded sweatshirt backward so that the hood was just below her face. She let the tiny little Chihuahua hang out in the pouch while working around the house.

She didn’t know if the puppy would ever feel safe or secure. The dog seemed comfortable on the couch, so she put the Chihuahua in a beanie. The short-haired pup appeared to need a warmer coat.
She cut out the bottom seam and armholes from a warm sock and let DJ wear it as a shirt. It was reminiscent of Dobby in Harry Potter who receives a sock as a gift of freedom. DJ’s sock shirt gave him the ability to warm up to his new home.

DJ’s human mom, Brooke, said she’s not a dog person, but there was something special about DJ. She shares that she started crying as soon as she held him and felt they were meant to be together.
When Brooke introduced DJ to her pet bunny, he knew they would all be okay. DJ’s tag never stopped wagging after he met the bunny, and he was so excited to have an animal friend. This adorable family is now complete.
