As a puppy, Bubba the Pitbull was used as a bait dog in a fighting ring, but unfortunately, he was not treated much better when he moved to his second home.

At this second home, Bubba’s new owner left him outside in the garage all day, refusing to give the puppy the attention and love he deserved. Fortunately, when Katharine heard about this sweet dog’s plight, she immediately brought him to live with her.

Because of all the trauma he faced, Bubba was confused and closed off when he first met Katharine. “He was really shut down and just not acting like a real dog,” said Katharine.

More than anything, Katharine wanted Bubba to find his happiness, so she took things slowly to allow the traumatized puppy all the time he needed to feel safe and welcome in his new home.

To help him with his separation anxiety, Katharine crate-trained Bubba and gave him a fluffy pillow and blanket to cuddle with. One day, when he came out of his crate, he turned back around and brought the blanket out with him.

“That kinda started his whole blankie boy routine,” said Katharine. For Bubba, his blanket became a balm to soothe the pains he had faced as a puppy. But as his fears and anxieties melted away, his blankie routine remained.

Bubba’s behavior did not stop with just him. When Katharine adopted another Pitbull, Simon, he picked up the behavior from his older brother. Now, both lovable dogs do adorable pillow and blanket parades around their forever home.
