Do you remember that awesome Paul Harvey tribute to farmers “So God Made A Farmer?” It was so loved that Ram made it into a viral Super Bowl commercial as well. So it was only a matter of time until some genius made a funny and touching version about “So God Made A Dog.” This Paul Harvey styled tribute about dogs is one of the best descriptions about our four-legged friends!
In this clip, the narrator runs down the long list of reasons God made a dog, and they are all valid reasons. Some of them are serious, some are funny, and some just make us feel better and love our dog even more.
Here’s one quote from the serious side of this clip. “God looked down on his wide eyed children and said they need a companion. God said I need somebody strong enough to pull sleds and find bombs, yet gentle enough to love babies and lead the blind. Somebody who will spend all day on a couch with a resting head and supportive eyes to lift the spirits of a broken heart. God said I need somebody who would stand at your side when the world around you collapses. So God made a dog.”
But there are some funny reasons he lists too, that, as someone who has owned dogs nearly my entire life, I can totally relate. One of the funniest is when he said we need a companion that can break wind without a care. My dog did that all the time. And I didn’t care. This is a wonderful tribute to man’s best friend.
