A New York City woman took a walk in the park, not expecting to find anything. However, she found more than just a simple trinket or lost item on her walk; she found a new best friend.
As she walked, a bright blue ball caught her eye. She drew closer and realized it was a beautiful bird.
The shy parakeet hopped out to her, hoping he’d found a rescuer. The woman, who admits she used to be afraid of birds, allowed the budgie to climb onto her.
The bird snuggled into the woman’s coat, and she took it home. Unsure of what to do once they arrived, she went right out and bought the parakeet a lovely new cage and food.
She let the bird get acclimated to the cage and her home. She realized he didn’t have a leg tag, so she decided to keep him.
The parakeet is now comfortable enough to perch on her glasses throughout the day. Now named Baby, the budgie receives an abundance of snuggles and kisses every day.
The new bird owner is very thankful to have found Baby, citing the challenging year she (and the rest of the world) has had. She remarks that she’s a loving person, and Baby has given her someone to pour her love into.
