At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Robin was sure about one thing. She needed a bunny. The answer to her desire came in the form of a special needs bunny named Orlagh.

Before Orlagh arrived at the shelter, her previous owners had dumped the poor bunny in a box. Fortunately, a compassionate stranger found the abandoned bunny and took her to the rescue shelter.

Robin knew Orlagh was the bunny for her the moment she saw the little one. “They sent me her picture, and I got goosebumps, and I was like, that’s my bunny,” said Robin.

Robin’s husband was nervous about what life would be like with this newest addition to their family, but that worry did not last long. “She was here two minutes, and he was like, wow,” said Robin.

While Orlagh had splayed legs, probably from his genetics, she did not let her difference stand in her way. “She has no idea that she’s limited in any way, shape or form,” said Robin.

Robin made sure to point out that there was no reason to pity the little bunny. “People are like, ‘Oh poor thing,’” said Robin, shaking her head. “There’s nothing poor about her.”

While Robin had been around animals her whole life, she had never met any animal like Orlagh before. “I get overwhelmed with emotion, with our bond and our connection and how much joy she brings us.”
