Woman realizes she can’t let her foster Pittie go

When Wilbur the Pitbull puppy first arrived at his foster home with Milla and her family, he was shy and reserved. But thanks to his loving family and help from his canine foster sister, Patty Cake that started to change.

But before Wilbur came home, there was important business Milla and Wilbur had to finish. “He was fresh out of the shelter, so [I] was like, ‘This dog needs some toys of his own,’” said Milla. “He marched himself down every aisle and sniffed every toy and picked his bones.”

When he arrived at Milla’s home Wilbur was happy to run around the farm, and he took a particular liking to the horses, but he remained distant from Milla and her family.

Fortunately, her dog, Patty Cake stepped in to help Wilbur connect with the rest of the family. “[Wilbur] immediately did well with Patty Cake,” said Milla. “I think he was actually comforted by Patty Cake.”

In a lot of ways, Milla reflected, Patty Cake helped Wilbur learn how to be a dog. “At first, he didn’t even know how to play,” said Milla, “and Patty Cake taught him.”

As Wilbur opened up to Patty Cake, he showed his loving, goofy personality to the rest of the family. He became especially close with Milla’s daughter, Rinnah. “Wilbur won her over very quickly,” said Milla.

Seeing her daughter and Patty Cake interacting with Wilbur, she realized the Pittie needed to stay with them. “He’s just added so much love and so much fun to our lives,” said Milla.
