The American Eagle Foundation in Tennessee was home to dozens of species of birds, but one of them stood out from the rest. His name was Tuck, and he was a Pied Crow.

The American Eagle Foundation rescued Tuck from a pet store. At 17 years old, Tuck had only known life in captivity and would not have survived in the wild. So, he joined the group of 75 non-releasable birds at the shelter.
Even though he could not return to the wild, the American Eagle Foundation ensured that Tuck had all the love and attention he deserved. One particular team member, Macy, grew particularly close to Tuck.

“I never thought I would have a special bond with a crow,” said Macy. But she quickly came to love the eclectic crow. “I love Tuck so much that I actually got hand-painted earrings that look just like him.”
And it became clear that Tuck felt the same way about Macy. Rather than socialize with the other birds, Tuck preferred to spend time with the human members of his flock.

Macy lovingly referred to Tuck as an “old gentleman” who wanted to be the star of the show. If he did not receive enough attention, Tuck would say, “what” to indicate his displeasure.
Macy was quick to point out that Tuck was not a pet. He was a wildlife ambassador. She hoped that Tuck would continue to inspire people to help keep wildlife wild.
