On the side of a busy street in Romania, Juliana encountered two abandoned pups on the side of the road. She decided then and there that she would not rest until both of them were safe in her home.
The first dog she found was a victim of abuse and had a scar on his nose. Appropriately, she named this dog Scar and put the friendly boy right into her car.
The second dog, a black dog standing in the middle of a nearby field, was more nervous. According to locals, people had been trying to kill the black dog for some time now. It was going to take a lot of work to earn this other dog’s trust.
Juliana was not going to give up. Day after day, she returned to the same spot, calling out to the nervous dog. Several days later, the dog followed her out of the fields, and Juliana could see he was begging her not to leave him behind.
Juliana was surprised when she realized that Scar and the black dog, Shine, knew one another. They forged a quick connection on their way to their new, forever home in Canada. And after 23 hours of travel, they finally arrived.
When Shine and Scar arrived at their new home, they were uncertain and confused. Shine came inside the second he arrived, but Scar was nervous about coming indoors.
After going through so much, Shine and Scar were finally in a place where they could receive the love and attention they deserved. “It was meant to be,” said Juliana.
