When Hurricane Irma raced across the country, many people had to leave their homes behind. Sometimes, that even meant leaving behind their pets. That was the case when an abandoned dog went looking for shelter.
That search brought her to the doorstep of a woman who had decided to ride out the storm. The woman was shocked when she went outside, but she gave the dog some food and water.
The abandoned pup looked like she had been through a lot. Dirt covered her fur, and she had cuts and bruises on her skin. The woman decided to bring her into her home and clean her up.
But before the puppy could have her bath, the woman had to win the dog’s trust, but that ended up being no problem. The pup cuddled against her within minutes, so she got to work on the matted fur.
The next day, she took the dog to the vet to check for a microchip, but there was no chip there. When she posted about the wolf-husky mix on social media, she learned that the dog had passed through multiple homes before coming to her.
The loving animal did not have a place to which she could return. So, she made up her mind about what to do with the puppy. She decided to adopt her and give her the forever home she deserved.
After four weeks of wandering the streets, the puppy, who the woman named Amaterasu (or Amy for short) had found the home she was looking for. She would never have to live on the streets again.
