ESPN host holds back tears as he pays tribute to his dog

ESPN host Scott Van Pelt paid tribute to his dog and best friend, Otis, who had recently passed away. Before Scott started his segment, he apologized in advance if he began to cry.

Scott began by saying that a few years ago, he already had a hard time when writing about his dad’s death anniversary. Writing something for Otis was even more difficult for him.

It was challenging because Otis was behind him in the same spot whenever Scott wrote something. Otis had a favorite chair he never left as long as Scott was in his home office.

Otis was adopted a few weeks after Scott got married. He was the training wheels before they had children. It was not easy since Otis had to have many surgeries.

They called him the bullet dodger, and he always fought through so much. Until one day, one tumor was the last thing he could not avoid. Then Scott and his family had to say goodbye.

Scott doesn’t know anything else that made him cry as much as the loss of Otis. No one has loved him as much as Otis because Otis would never even get mad at Scott.

According to Scott, the best part of life is loving, even when the hardest part is loss. For him, the pain he feels was worth all the love he got from Otis, and Scott will keep him in his heart and soul forever.
