One-in-a-million cat loves to hop on the surfboard with his parents

One of the first facts most people know about cats is that they hate water. But that wasn’t the case for this unique Hawaiin cat, Hokule’a who seemed to love it.

The kitty’s human parents found Hokule’a at a local humane society. His mom had gone there to look at the animals, but when she saw little Hokule’a, she knew she needed to take him home.

At first, the adopted cat was very nervous around his parents, but slowly he warmed up to them and would follow them wherever they went, including into the shower.

That was when Hoku’s parents noticed something odd about their curious fur baby. Not only did he not mind the water from the rain, pools, or showers. He seemed to enjoy it.

So, they decided to take the kitty down to the beach. When Hokule’a first encountered the ocean, he was in love. Under his parent’s watchful eyes, he swam through the water.

Hoku’s dad was curious just how far his little cat would go, so he took him out onto the surfboard, and Hokule’a was in heaven. He rode his first small wave like a professional.

Hoku’s parents even cut a special kitty-safe surfboard seat for their one-in-a-million cat. One thing was certain, this kitty was in the right place. “Hokule’a loves what Hawaii has to offer.”
