Panda plans cute behind-the-wall prank to ‘scare’ his loving nanny

There is something so irresistible about pandas. Many people might say that this black-and-white animal is one of their favorites, even if it’s endemic to one area of the world. Despite their rarity and endangerment, pandas are among the most iconic animals globally. They have been subjects of films, cartoon series, and animated films, and for a good reason. The biggest question surrounding these animals is, “why are they so darn cute?”

We’ve seen tons of videos showcasing panda cubs in captivity. And no matter the video, one thing remains the same – these cubs act like curious little toddlers who treat anything, like everything, as a chance to play. In their wobbly stance, they try to stand up on two legs and march about like how babies are when they first learned to walk. Everything excites them. They cling to their caretakers, play non-stop around playpens and playgrounds, investigate anything that spurs their curiosity, and interact with people like little children.

In one video, panda bear Yun Wu became viral because of its antics. The bear can be seen sniffing out a weighing device. It was so intriguing that Yun Wu began toying with it. But it wasn’t Yun Wu’s penchant for curiosity that melted people’s hearts. At one point in the video, the little panda cowered deep into the corner of the room as if it was hiding from something. Then, like the quietest predator in the wild, the panda made a slow low crawl toward the doorway. It craned its neck out to see if the caretaker was approaching.

His moves might be obvious, but little Yun Wu won’t admit that. Instead, when the caretaker finally came into the room, Yun Wu pounced on them. The little panda seemed proud of how sneaky it was. It then asked the caretaker for attention and affection when Yun Wu hugged the person’s leg. Pandas, however, don’t take rejection too lightly. When the staff carefully removed the bear from their leg, the panda tumbled and rolled like it was throwing a kiddie tantrum. People all over the internet swooned at the cub.

“So cute how he hid by the wall then swatted her legs as she went by, then fell back like he took a little tantrum,” explained one commenter. “Little mischief-maker puts himself in time-out then seeks reassurance that he’s forgiven. So precious! How could you not love him!” said another.

Pandas, or giant pandas, are still vulnerable. These herbivores consume around 28 pounds of bamboo in a span of 12 hours to be fully satiated. Pandas can be found only in China, where government efforts are done to preserve their population. While they may look silly with their antics and appear sedentary, they are actually skilled tree climbers and adept swimmers. While some pandas are protected within breeding centers and zoos, conservation efforts have helped increase their numbers in the wild.
