Shadow was an adorable rescued Staffordshire bull terrier who had recently joined the Doggy Daycare Farm. Luke and his wife Sam, who were owners of the farm, were briefed by the shelter that the dog was very reactive.
The new mom just needed a place away from other shelter dogs to raise her puppies. Luke wanted Shadow to relax and enjoy her time with her little ones. Then, when she was ready, they would find her a family for adoption.
Shadow loved her little puppies. But also wanted to be with her favorite humans. With time, she became more relaxed and even enjoyed swimming with the couple.
Luke believed that Shadow would join the other dogs soon after she completed her training as she still showed signs of discomfort when left with other dogs. Hence, she was the only one in the big pool. At first, the dog was a bit scared but followed Luke as she trusted him.
He was unsure if she could swim, but Shadow surprised everyone by swimming splendidly. She was delighted to be in the pool. The other dogs stood outside the pool, waiting for their turn to join her. However, they had to wait a bit as Shadow was not done yet.
The dogs who never liked swimming wanted to join Shadow in the pool and wanted to gain Luke’s attention by barking. This made Luke and Sam laugh a lot. Shadow stood patiently at first but later got concerned about the other dogs and started to growl.
It was a lot of hard work that Luke and Sam had put in towards the rehab of the new mama dog. However, Shadow had come a long way in a short time with Luke’s help. He had helped Shadow to be at ease with everything. Slowly but steadily, he had trained the dog to be more comfortable.
